Athens/Clarke
About 70 miles from Atlanta with a population estimate of 127,358, Athens Clarke County is a college town home to a quaint Normaltown, a vibrant downtown, a community centered Five Points, and residential east and west Athens.
Normaltown is uniquely its own neighborhood. As one of the oldest areas of the Classic City, it’s known for its location near downtown, the UGA campus, and popular shops and eateries. Nearby, downtown is known in the Southeast as a hub for local restaurants, shops, and bars where you can hear live music on the streets or at unique venues. Across the street is the University of Georgia, home to one of the nation’s highest performing academic establishments and decorated athletics. Located on the south side of the UGA campus is Five Points located near popular sporting events, coffee shops, restaurants, and bakeries amidst southern style homes, mature landscapes, and a preserved historic district. Eastside is the larger part of Athens-Clarke after crossing the North Oconee River. From condos and neighborhoods to rural properties in Winterville and Barnett Shoals, east Athens has a diverse property range. The west side features homes with more land than the east while remaining close to central Athens and Oconee County.
